LA PALMA + EL HIERRO, CANARY ISLANDS
What We Hear When the Noise Falls Away, First Silence
Silence is not the absence of experience. Sometimes it is the beginning of it.

The Canary Islands are often imagined through beaches and winter sun. But on La Palma and El Hierro, another rhythm exists: volcanic paths, dark skies, forests touched by cloud, and small communities that still feel closely connected to the landscape.
The First Silence was designed around that quieter side of the islands. Rather than trying to collect
highlights, the journey creates space to notice what normally disappears when travel moves too quickly –
the sound of wind through pine, the texture of volcanic ground underfoot, the changing light over the
Atlantic, and the ease of a conversation that has nowhere else to be.
There is something almost elemental about moving between La Palma and El Hierro. The terrain reminds us that these islands were shaped slowly, violently and patiently. That sense of geological time changes the way we travel through them. A viewpoint becomes less about the photograph and more about staying long enough to understand the scale of what is in front of us.
Local encounters are essential to that experience. The people who farm, produce, guide and create here give meaning to the landscape. Their stories connect the islands to everyday life, while small moments – a shared meal, an evening under the stars, a conversation beside a field or terrace – turn scenery into memory.
The First Silence is therefore less about escaping the world than about returning to it with greater attention. Nine days, a small group, and enough room in the itinerary for stillness to become part of the journey itself.
