Travel is built through relationships.
Be Local exists because of the people who open their landscapes, knowledge and communities to us.
Our community includes Journey Hosts, small accommodations, producers, artisans, local guides, environmental initiatives and organizations working to strengthen the places we visit. We are always interested in meeting people who share our way of seeing travel.
The initiatives behind our journeys
Small Groups, Deeper Connections
We travel with no more than eight guests.
Keeping our groups small lets us travel differentlywith more flexibility, deeper local connections, and a greater sense of presence. For us, small-group travel isn’t about exclusivity, but about presence, intimacy, and respect for the places we enter.
Local Stays, Local Economies
Where we stay and where we spend matters.
We prioritise independent stays, family-run properties, local restaurants, and small businesses rooted in the communities we visit. Rather than separating travellers from local life, we aim to support the people who make these places what they are. Travel should leave value behind.
Regenerative Partnerships
Every journey supports a local environmental or community initiative.
We support local NGOs, associations, and grassroots projects focused on conservation, regeneration, biodiversity, and community resilience. Each journey contributes to one of these initiatives, helping us move beyond simply visiting a destination to participating in its future.
Slow & Seasonal by Design
We deliberately travel outside the busiest periods of the year.
We travel mainly in spring and autumn, when destinations feel quieter and more natural. By staying longer, moving less, and leaving space between activities, we embrace a slower rhythm not to do less, but to experience more of what truly matters.

One Partner, Deeper Impact
Each season, Be Local chooses one locally rooted organisation or grassroots initiative to support through the journeys we operate. Rather than spreading our contribution across multiple projects, we prefer to build one meaningful relationship, understand the work behind it and support it consistently throughout the season.
A contribution from every Be Local journey goes towards this selected initiative, helping us create a more tangible and lasting impact.
Wherever we travel, we also remain curious about the local organisations, communities and people working to protect and strengthen their territories.
For us, meaningful impact begins with depth, continuity and genuine relationships.
A Community Built Around Meaningful Travel

Become a Journey Host
A Be Local Journey Host does more than guide, they create the space to experience a place deeply.
They lead small groups through nine-day journeys, connecting travellers with local landscapes, communities and encounters while keeping the calm rhythm of Be Local. We look for local knowledge, warmth, curiosity and a genuine care for the place you represent.
