A Forest Landscape That Asks Us to Pay Attention
In Asturias, nature is not scenery around the journey. It is one of the hosts.

Asturias is green in a way that feels almost physical. Forests climb steep hillsides, clouds gather aroundthe mountains, streams appear beside old paths, and villages seem to sit naturally within the landscape rather than apart from it.
That relationship between people and land inspired The Living Forest. The journey moves from the interior toward the coast, but its real direction is inward: away from speed, noise and constant stimulation, and toward a more attentive way of being in a place.
Walking through an Asturian forest is a simple experience, yet it contains everything we want this journey to represent. There is no need to achieve anything. The path is enough. Moss, humidity, birdsong, changing light and the smell of the earth become part of the day. A Journey Host can provide context, but the landscape does much of the work itself.
The human side matters just as much. Rural Asturias is full of people whose knowledge is inseparable from place – producers, cooks, farmers, craftspeople and families who have remained connected to traditions that are increasingly rare elsewhere. Spending genuine time with them allows guests to understand Asturias beyond its beauty.
The Living Forest is also an argument for travelling in quieter seasons. Small groups and thoughtful timing reduce pressure on places while helping local businesses extend activity beyond peak periods. Regenerative travel begins with this kind of practical consideration: how we arrive, when we arrive, who benefits, and what relationship we create with the place that receives us.
